Queen Bee Print
A high quality print of my “Queen Bee” illustration. Each work is printed on slightly textured, 300 GSM white linen paper stock and signed. Created with graphite pencil. Available in A3. Prints do not come framed.
How are the prints made?
My Queen Bee print is designed and printed in Sydney, Australia. I hand paint or draw the original (a process which can take up to a few weeks) and then my final artwork is professionally scanned by a boutique studio located in Sydney, specialising in artwork scanning. I send the high-quality scan to my local printers, who then print onto my carefully selected 300gsm linen paper stock.
How do I frame them?
Queen Bee prints come unframed and unmounted, which makes them super easy to find frames for! Because they are paper prints, they require framing with glass or plexiglass. As they are a standard A-series size (A3) you can find frames that fit my prints at places such as Spotlight, K-mart, Temple & Webster, Country Road, Officeworks and other such stores. Pre-bought frames are an affordable and easy way to frame!
Of course, you can also take your print to your local framer for professional custom framing too. I would recommend either a white or gold frame for all my prints, but a light natural wood would look great too!
Why bees?
Because they’re cute! Bees are currently under threat from underpopulation due to human interference such as use of chemicals and habitat destruction. They are essential to the environment and to humans in many ways, including:
- Pollination: Bees are the world’s most important pollinators, and their work is vital for the survival of ecosystems and food security. Around 90% of the world’s wild flowering plants and more than 75% of the world’s food crops depend on pollination. In Australia, bees are needed for pollination in around 35% of crops.
- Biodiversity: Bees are a key part of biodiversity and are essential for conserving it.
- Food: Bees produce high-quality food such as honey, royal jelly, and pollen.
- Other products: Bees also produce beeswax, propolis, and honey bee venom.
- Inspiration: Bees have inspired innovations in many areas, including structural engineering, medical technology, and computer-based search and optimisation processes.
- Symbolism: Bees are often seen as symbols of community, strength, and wisdom.
